This two-day seminar is for nurses providing care to rehabilitation patients. It is designed to enhance the skills of rehabilitation nurses working in a variety of inpatient or outpatient settings. Rehabilitation nursing standards of care and practice will be reviewed. Participants will gain additional skills to manage the complex needs of rehabilitation patients as well as work more effectively in the interdisciplinary team.

Betty brings 43 years of neurological and rehabilitation nursing expertise to her courses and seminars. She started as a bedside neuro nurse after graduating with her BSN at the University of Virginia. She developed a passion to teach patients and their families how to live with a disability. She expanded her teaching to nurses after completing her MEd. at the University of Virginia. Her career path includes academia, home health administration, staff development, consulting and research. She became a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN®) in 1989. In the past 26 years, she has taught many CRRN review courses nationally and internationally. Betty has presented at national Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN) conferences on sexuality issues for persons with a disability and numerous other rehabilitation topics. She has received recognition as both Rehabilitation Educator and Administrator of the Year.
Betty’s presentation style encourages audience participation and incorporates many techniques to enhance adult learning. Her success as a CRRN review educator is evident with the attendees achieving a high pass rate on the CRRN Exam. Currently, she is an educator/research nurse for a CMS grant on delirium in the geriatric population at Houston Methodist Hospital, TX.
