Presented in lecture format, this course reviews topics for the Maternal Newborn Nursing Exam by the National Certification Corporation (NCC). Elements of the examination are discussed, followed by a review of the content. The major components include disease processes during pregnancy, maternal and fetal complications, postpartum and neonatal assessments. Practice questions are integrated throughout the presentation.

Melissa has a combined 30 years of clinical and instructional experience in all areas of maternal-neonatal nursing. She received her BSN from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, her MSN from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a post-master’s certificate as a family nurse practitioner from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.
She has held faculty positions at Motlow State Community College and Vanderbilt University School of Nursing teaching maternal-child nursing in the classroom and clinical setting. She now practices as a neonatal nurse practitioner (NNP) for Children’s Minneapolis Hospitals and Clinics. She has traveled extensively as an advanced practice nurse and has had the opportunity to work in a variety of maternal-infant environments.
As the creator of Neo-Productions, Melissa has developed and/or presented multiple continuing education lectures for students and staff. She also maintains her neonatal resuscitation (NRP) and S.T.A.B.L.E. Program instructor status.
Melissa holds four certifications from NCC. She is certified as a registered nurse in Inpatient Obstetrics, Maternal-Newborn Nursing and Electronic Fetal Monitoring. She also holds board certification as a neonatal nurse practitioner.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received by email, in writing or by phone up to 14 days prior to the seminar will receive a full refund. A 10% processing fee will be charged for refunds requested less than 14 days prior to the seminar. If applicable, the cancellation fee may be waived for tuition transferred to another seminar or if applied to Self-Study products. In the rare event that MED-ED must cancel, MED-ED’s liability is limited to tuition.
