Course Description

The ONC® Exam contains questions related to orthopedic patient-centered care nursing standards. By a comprehensive review of these standards, the participant will have the tools and knowledge necessary for successful preparation for orthopedic nursing certification. Content will include assessment and care for orthopedic patients experiencing pediatric/congenital/neuromuscular disorders, metabolic conditions, degenerative/inflammatory disorders, total joint arthroplasty, orthopedic trauma/conditions and sports injuries, fractures, musculoskeletal tumors, amputation, spinal surgery or ortho-pedic complications with appropriate prevention strategies and priority interventions.

Program Learning Outcomes

This program prepares the learner to:

  • Have the foundation for further study to work toward successful certification in orthopedic nursing.

Tina’s dedication to her profession is demonstrated by her membership in the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON), the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and the Wisconsin Nurses Association (WNA). Tina has over 30 years of clinical and instructional experience in orthopedic nursing. She also holds a clinical adjunct faculty position at UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health and currently practices as surgical orthopedic nurse practitioner. With an MS from UW-Madison, she brings years of hands-on clinical experience in healthcare and wellness. 

Tina has been an editor for Orthopedic Operating Room Manual and a peer-reviewed author of many chapters and journal articles, including Orthopedic Nursing, NAON Core Curriculum and Orthopedic Nursing Journal. She was honored at NAON’s 34th annual congress, receiving a distinguished service award that recognizes an individual who has advanced orthopedic nursing through his or her actions and efforts. Tina has presented both nationally and internationally for NAON and AAOS, along with many other organizations within the U.S. She is particularly known for her ability to provide practical information to interdisciplinary healthcare audiences. Tina’s high energy and genuine enthusiasm creates her signature approach to education.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received by email, in writing or by phone up to 14 days prior to the seminar will receive a full refund. A 10% processing fee will be charged for refunds requested less than 14 days prior to the seminar. If applicable, the cancellation fee may be waived for tuition transferred to another seminar or if applied to Self-Study products. In the rare event that MED-ED must cancel, MED-ED’s liability is limited to tuition.
