Overview
Course Description
This comprehensive day course will provide the bedside nurse and members of the rapid response team (RRT) with the tools necessary to recognize clinical deterioration and avert failure to rescue. The course will begin with an overview of the rapid response system (RRS) and the subsequent development of an RRT. This is followed by an overview of the roles for the bedside caregiver and members of the RRT. Detailed scenarios will be presented that will challenge the attendee to critically think through the process of assessment, identification of the problem and then strategies for management.
Program Learning Outcomes
This program prepares the learner to:
- Identify early warning signs of clinical deterioration.
- List the indicators for the implementation of the RRS.
- List appropriate assessment and differentials for selected clinical crises.
- Discuss current evidence-based management strategies.
- Evaluate current research results for the RRS.

Terry Lynch
MSN/Ed., RN, CCRN, PCCN
Terry has nearly 30 years of experience in caring for the critically ill patient in various specialty areas that include cardiovascular medicine and surgery, neuro, pulmonary, renal and trauma care. In addition to teaching the CCRN Certification review course, he has provided continuing education classes on several topics that include 12-Lead interpretation, ABGs and ventilators, radiographic interpretation essentials, hemodynamics, Rapid Response teams, neurological and neurosurgical care. Terry is a member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) and the Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD). He is able to make the most difficult concepts easy to understand by the beginner as well as the advanced practitioner and is best known as a master clinician and dynamic speaker who uses humor and real-life situations to give his topics meaning and depth.

Cancellations received by email, in writing or by phone up to 14 days prior to the seminar will receive a full refund. A 10% processing fee will be charged for refunds requested less than 14 days prior to the seminar. If applicable, the cancellation fee may be waived for tuition transferred to another seminar or if applied to Self-Study products. In the rare event that MED-ED must cancel, MED-ED’s liability is limited to tuition.
