This three-day course is designed for oncology nurses seeking a general oncology review in preparation for the ONCC® OCN Exam and BMT oncology nurses seeking a review in preparation for the ONCC® Blood & Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse (BMTCN®) Exam. The first two days will focus on the following categories from the 2016 OCN blueprint: cancer epidemiology, health promotion and cancer screening, scientific basis for practice, treatment modalities, symptom management, psychosocial care, oncologic emergencies, palliative/end-of-life care and survivorship. This is not meant to be an introductory course, but rather a comprehensive review of basic oncology nursing practice. The third day will focus on the following categories from the BMTCN® 2016 test content outline: indications for transplantation, types of trans-plants and stem-cell sources, pretransplant care, preparative regimens, stem-cell infusion, graft-versus host disease, post-transplant care, survivorship and professional practice. This is not an introductory course to BMT, but rather a comprehensive review of BMT oncology nursing practice.

Mary is an accomplished oncology clinical nurse leader and educator with 34 years of experience. She has participated in major changes in nursing and has actively contributed to the growth of the oncology nursing practice. Currently, Mary is an oncology clinical nurse educator working at a large healthcare system in south Florida. She is responsible for the professional development of oncology nurses, assisting them in transforming the care at the bedside through education and practice. She has designed and presented oncology orientations and OCN® review courses, including the ONS chemotherapy biotherapy certificate course.
Mary is involved in the guidance of nursing practice in a busy oncology, blood and marrow transplant unit, assisting the bedside nurse in providing patient and family-centered care. She is an energetic educator who is able to present advanced concepts in an interesting and memorable manner.
Mary has presented at numerous nursing conferences, including nationally at the Oncology Nursing Society Congress and American Society of Blood & Marrow Transplant Tandem Conference. She is an active member of ONS, Infusion Nurses Society and the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s Florida chapter. Mary received her BScN degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, her MEd from the University of Toronto and her MSN from Florida Atlantic University. She is both an oncology certified nurse (OCN) and a Blood & Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse (BMTCNTM).
