Course Description

Presented in lecture format, this course reviews topics for the Maternal Newborn Nursing Exam by the National Certification Corporation (NCC). Elements of the examination are discussed, followed by a review of the content. The major components include disease processes during pregnancy, maternal and fetal complications, postpartum and neonatal assessments. Practice questions are integrated throughout the presentation.

Program Learning Outcomes

This program prepares the learner to:

  • Describe the Maternal Newborn Nursing Exam, test plan and the practice requirements to sit for the exam.
  • Construct a study plan for the exam based on understanding the blueprint and domains of practice covered.
  • Identify common mistakes and pitfalls that are made during studying and testing for the exam.
  • Recall the core components covered in the exam through didactic supplementation and test questions.

Michelle Dickerson, PhD(c), RNC-NIC, RNC-MNN, RN-BC Related seminars and products


Michelle has been a child health nurse for almost 20 years. She has practiced bedside at a Level 3 NICU and with mother and baby for over 10 years. She has also served as a nurse educator for maternal child health for almost 10 years. Additionally, she has been a clinical instructor for maternal child health and pediatrics and has taught courses at several state universities. Michelle graduated from the University of Phoenix with her BSN in 2007 and her MSN in Nursing Education in 2012. She is certified in high-risk neonatal intensive care nursing and in maternal child health nursing. She is part of the Academy of Neonatal Nurses, National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) and the National Association of Neonatal Nurses Education Provider Committee.

The Day Of

Sign-in begins at 7:30 am. The day includes a one-hour lunch (on your own), as well as a morning and afternoon break of 15 minutes each. The order of lectures presented and break times may vary according to speaker preference.

Parking

Valet parking is available at the main entrance. Self-parking is also available in the Glenwood Garage or Visitor Garage. All parking is free for patients and visitors.

Walk-In Fee

As long as space is available, you can register the day of the seminar with an additional walk-in fee of $15. Please note that only cash, money orders, credit cards and hospital checks are accepted at the door. Personal checks are not accepted.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received in writing or by phone up to 14 days prior to the seminar will receive a Full Refund. A 10% processing fee will be charged for refunds requested less than 14 days prior to the seminar. Cancellation fee will be waived for tuition transferred to another seminar or if applied to Self-Study products. In the rare event that MED-ED must cancel, MED-ED’s liability is limited to tuition.
