Course Description

The nurse executive-advanced and nurse executive board certification examinations are competency-based assessments to validate knowledge related to the art and science of nursing leadership. Nurse executives taking this course will learn about operational structures and processes that support nursing excellence, exemplary professional practice, transformational leadership, knowledge management and the development of new knowledge and innovations. This course will not only prepare the nurse executive for a successful examination, but will also enable them to be a stronger nurse leader within their organization. 

Key Learning Outcome

  • After completing the program, 80% of participants will report an increase in knowledge and confidence necessary to pass the certification exam.

Program Objectives

This program prepares the learner to:

  • Apply principles of transformational leadership to advance the practice of nursing and achieve clinical and  operational excellence within their organization.
  • Identify strengths and areas of opportunity in preparing for board certification as a nurse executive.
  • Develop a test plan strategy based on the review course and examination content outline to ensure success on

Evelyn Choy is an experienced nursing leader and magnet program director with over a decade of leadership in healthcare and more than five years guiding organizations through every phase of their magnet journey. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Executive Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania and is board-certified as a Nurse Executive Advanced (NEA-BC).

Known for her transparent and authentic leadership style, Evelyn is a dedicated servant leader who believes deeply in empowering nurses through education, mentorship, and professional development. She is a passionate advocate for specialty nursing certification and understands its value in advancing nursing practice and improving patient outcomes. In her work as a magnet program director, she has continually emphasized the importance of board certification, promoting a culture of excellence and lifelong learning.

As a MED-ED speaker, Evelyn brings her real-world experience, strategic insight and genuine enthusiasm for leadership development to support nurses preparing for the NEA-BC exam. Her teaching is grounded in practical knowledge, thoughtful guidance and a deep commitment to helping others succeed.
