Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide all nurses caring for acute stroke patients with the knowledge of the different types of stroke and the newer recommendations used in the management of stroke based on the newer AHA Guidelines for the Management of Patients with Ischemic and Hemorrhagic Stroke. This course will provide a complete review of material covered on the SCRN Exam.

Program Learning Outcomes

This program prepares the learner to:

  • Self-report at an 85% rate an increased level of knowledge necessary to pass the SCRN Exam.
  • Relate the new care pathways for the ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients and how they affect the outcomes of this patient population.

RoAnna Kingman received her BSN and MSN degrees with a specialty as a family nurse practitioner from the University of Miami. She has extensive clinical experience in neuroscience with a focus in acute and chronic care of the neurosurgical patient, but also has clinical expertise and experience in surgery, stroke neurology, emergency medical care, critical care and hospital administration.

RoAnna is currently the executive director of the Marcus Neuroscience Institute in Boca Raton, FL. She began her career as an ICU nurse at a Level I trauma center in West Palm Beach before dedicating her career to neuroscience. She progressed on to become the director of neuroscience and clinical ARNP at Florida Medical Center, where she developed and led a successful comprehensive stroke program. She has also taught many college level nursing courses and is passionate about precepting and mentoring future nurse leaders and clinicians.

RoAnna’s experience as a top level hospital executive and program builder give her a broad understanding of policy, legal and ethical considerations, as well as the financial issues that impact nursing. She has a seemingly limitless amount of energy and enthusiasm that keep the audience engaged in the subject matter and is well-known for bringing real-life scenarios and practical knowledge to her courses and seminars.

The Day Of

Sign-in begins at 7:30 am. The day includes a one-hour lunch (on your own), as well as a morning and afternoon break of 15 minutes each. The order of lectures presented and break times may vary according to speaker preference.

Parking passes will be distributed once registration is complete.

Walk-In Fee

As long as space is available, you can register the day of the seminar with an additional walk-in fee of $15. Please note that only cash, money orders, credit cards and hospital checks are accepted at the door. Personal checks are not accepted.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations received in writing or by phone up to 14 days prior to the seminar will receive a Full Refund. A 10% processing fee will be charged for refunds requested less than 14 days prior to the seminar. Cancellation fee will be waived for tuition transferred to another seminar or if applied to Self-Study products. In the rare event that MED-ED must cancel, MED-ED’s liability is limited to tuition.
