In this one day program, participants will explore a wide variety of information and skills to help combat chronic stress that leads to compassion fatigue. Participants will learn to develop professional resiliency skills to maximally function under the increasingly difficult and stressful demands of their work environments. There will be time-out sessions for practices in mindfulness, meditation, gentle movement and self-assessments. Each participant will develop an individualized self-care program to integrate into his or her practice immediately.

Nancy Mannion, DNP, RN, CEN, FAEN, has an extensive career as a nurse leader, educator and consultant in nursing care and hospital operations with a focus on the emergency department.
Nancy is the author of numerous articles on clinical practice and nursing leadership in peer-reviewed journals and a contributing author to several books. She is an in-demand lecturer with years of presenting to diverse audiences on topics ranging from clinical care to leadership. She serves on the Journal of Emergency Nursing editorial board and is a section editor of the International Nursing column.
Nancy has worked in care environments ranging from small rural hospitals to large urban medical centers in the U.S. As president of NMB Global Leadership, she consults with hospitals around the U.S. as well as in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. In any setting, she is viewed as an engaging, thoughtful leader. Nancy’s education in nursing began with a diploma from a hospital-based school of nursing. She went on to earn her BSN, Master’s and Doctorate degrees. In addition to these accomplishments, Nancy has extensive experience in association leadership, having served on numerous boards including president of the Emergency Nurses Association (2006), chair of the Academy of Emergency Nursing (2015) and the Emergency Nurses Association Foundation Board of Trustees. Nancy currently serves as chair of the Nurses on Boards Coalition, promoting nurses to influence the health of communities through service on boards.
