John Paguntalan, PhD, NP, APRN-BC, Alumnus CCRN
Dr. Paguntalan has more than 15 years of critical care nursing experience. He received his CCRN in 1999, NP certification in 2001 and his PhD in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in 2015. In the past 10 years, he has taught nurses, paramedics, nurse practitioners and physicians in various topics ranging from heart rhythm interpretation to the management of the critically ill patient. He is a strong proponent for utilization of evidence-based practice to improve patient safety and quality of care. He serves as adjunct instructor for the DNP program at MUSC. As a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), he works closely with clinicians and families in critical care setting to improve patient outcomes. He is a published author of several peer-reviewed research articles and was named Outstanding Educator of the Year in 2015 by Upstate AHEC, Greenville, SC.
