Media Esser, RN, MSN, NNP-BC, CWN
Media has nearly 20 years of experience caring for neonatal patients, with an interest in building awareness of the importance of neonatal skincare. In 2012 and 2013, she was nominated for the Nurse Excellence Award at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. She has also served as president of the Southern Wisconsin Chapter of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN), along with completing the Maternal-Child Health Leadership Academy, supported by Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) nursing honor society.
Media currently holds the position of director at large with NANN and serves as the liaison to the neonatal perinatal section of the American Academy of Pediatrics for NANN. She has also taught undergraduate nursing and NICU review courses on the East Coast. Media has presented on skincare nationally, including the NANN Conference, where she has given poster and podium presentations, along with publishing several articles related to neonatal skincare.
Media earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Alverno College in Wisconsin and a Master of Science in nursing from Stony Brook University in New York. She is currently completing her nursing PhD at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and became certified as a wound nurse in 2017. Her research focus is on neonatal skin injuries, specifically diaper dermatitis in the NICU.
