Course Description

In this one day program, participants will explore a wide variety of information and skills to help combat chronic stress that leads to compassion fatigue. Participants will learn to develop professional resiliency skills to maximally function under the increasingly difficult and stressful demands of their work environments. There will be time-out sessions for practices in mindfulness, meditation, gentle movement and self-assessments. Each participant will develop an individualized self-care program to integrate into his or her practice immediately.

Program Learning Outcomes

This program prepares the learner to:

  • Explore the causes, symptoms, effects of compassion fatigue, along with the treatments and resiliency strategies for potentially debilitating life-changing conditions.
  • Explain the effects of the autonomic nervous system in magnifying our stress response.
  • Implement skills to self-regulate the autonomic nervous system, going from sympathetic to parasympathetic response.
  • Create a self-care resiliency individualized plan to implement immediately.

Nancy has an extensive career as a nurse leader, educator and consultant. She is an in-demand lecturer with years of presenting to diverse audiences on topics ranging from clinical care to leadership, who has also been published extensively. Nancy has worked in emergency care environments ranging from small rural hospitals to large urban medical centers. In any setting, she is viewed as an engaging, thoughtful leader. She calls upon her cumulative experiences to bring fresh insights to her clients. In addition to these accomplishments, Nancy has extensive experience in association leadership and has earned her DNP with a focus on leadership.

Cancellations received by email, in writing or by phone up to 14 days prior to the seminar will receive a full refund. A 10% processing fee will be charged for refunds requested less than 14 days prior to the seminar. If applicable, the cancellation fee may be waived for tuition transferred to another seminar or if applied to Self-Study products. In the rare event that MED-ED must cancel, MED-ED’s liability is limited to tuition.
